Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for surveys of marine mammals in Australia: test of concept
The conservation and management of many marine mammal species is largely dependent on monitoring population status by conducting aerial surveys from manned aircraft. Recent developments in the technical capacity and civilian use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have led to some investigations into the potential use of these systems for aerial surveys of marine mammals.
