Artisan Training Centre and Revitalisation of the Honey Project

Implemented by Fundação Lugenda in the Lugenda Wildlife Reserve, located in Block L7 of the Niassa Special Reserve, this community development project focuses on professional training to support value addition. The initiative responds to high unemployment rates and the limited availability of technical training in the region, factors that constrain economic opportunities and local autonomy.

The project comprises two complementary components: training in carpentry and welding, and the revitalisation of the Honey Project. By training 10 residents in these technical fields, the initiative aims to develop skills in high demand both locally and in urban centres, thereby expanding employment prospects and income-generating opportunities. In parallel, the revitalised Honey Project promotes sustainable beekeeping practices that contribute to natural resource conservation while improving community livelihoods.

The project is expected to increase employability for direct beneficiaries, strengthen community entrepreneurship, and create sustainable economic opportunities. By linking socio-economic development with environmental conservation, the initiative promotes an integrated model that directly benefits the community and fosters local change agents capable of driving sustainable development in the region.
